Ingredients:
Apple layer:
3 medium apples, peeled and diced
⅓ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
Cinnamon roll layer:
2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (cut into quarters, icing reserved)
Creamy layer:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
¼ cup powdered sugar
¼ cup heavy cream or milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping:
Reserved cinnamon roll icing
Caramel sauce (optional but recommended)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a small baking dish.
2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
3. Cook for 6–8 minutes until apples are soft and caramelized. Set aside.
4. In a bowl, whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth.
5. Place a layer of cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish.
6. Spoon half of the apples over the rolls.
7. Drizzle half of the cream mixture on top.
8. Repeat layers with remaining cinnamon rolls, apples, and cream mixture.
9. Bake uncovered for 28–32 minutes until golden and bubbly.
10. Warm the reserved icing slightly and drizzle generously over the top.
11. Finish with caramel sauce if desired. Serve warm.
