Ingredients
For the Cookies
● ½ lb butter, softened
● 4 oz cream cheese, softened
● ½ cup granulated sugar
● 2 cups all-purpose flour
● 1 tsp vanilla extract
● Food coloring (optional)
For the Frosting
● 3 tbsp butter, softened
● 1½ cups powdered sugar
● 1–2 tbsp milk
● Food coloring (optional)
1: Make the Dough: Beat butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy, then mix in sugar and vanilla until creamy.
2: Add Flour: Gradually mix in flour just until a soft dough forms; add food coloring if using.
3: Chill Briefly: Refrigerate dough for about 10 minutes so it presses cleanly.
4: Preheat Oven: Heat oven to 400°F (200°C) and keep baking sheets completely cool and ungreased.
5: Press Cookies: Load dough into a cookie press and press shapes onto the baking sheet.
6: Bake: Bake 4–6 minutes until bottoms are lightly golden; transfer to a rack to cool completely.
7: Make Frosting: Mix butter, powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring until smooth and spreadable.
8: Decorate: Frost cooled cookies and add sprinkles if desired.
● Fully softened butter & cream cheese create the smoothest dough.
● Cool baking sheets are key—warm pans prevent clean cookie shapes.
● Watch closely: These bake fast and should stay pale on top.
● Too soft to press? Chill dough a few extra minutes.
● Flavor twist: Add almond extract or lemon zest for variety.
