enthralled with her stories.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">At first it was the fairy stories but then I graduated into the adventure books and the books about boarding schools.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\"><a class=\"img-link\" class=\"separator\">The children in the adventure books didn&#8217;t seem to have much supervision and they travelled all around the countryside.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div and\u00a0 midnight feasts. Even now as a 64 year old woman.\u00a0 My heart still longs for adventures and midnight feasts.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00a0I think to be sure those days are long gone for me, and I don&#8217;t think my digestion could take eating anything after 7 o-clock at night.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\"><a exotic about sausage rolls,\u00a0 eccles cakes, macaroons, ginger beer and\u00a0 . . . cherry cake.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\"><a class=\"img-link\" class=\"ccm-section\">\n<div class=\"ccm-section-title\">For the glaze and decoration:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>65g icing sugar, sifted (1\/2 cup)<\/li>\n<li>milk to thin<\/li>\n<li>a handful of toasted flaked almonds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ccm-section-instructions instructions\">\n<h3 class=\"ccm-head\">instructions:<\/h3>\n<h2 class=\"ccm-howto ccm-hide-on-print\"><\/h2>\n<div class=\"ccm-section\">\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 180*C\/350*F\/gas mark 4.\u00a0 Lighty butter a 9 X 5 X 3 inch loaf tin.\u00a0 Line with baking paper. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Rinse the glace cherries in hot water to remove all of the syrup and sugar.\u00a0 Dry well and then cut in half.\u00a0 Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Sift the flour into a bowl. Whisk in the lemon zest and almonds.\u00a0 Stir in the halved cherries.<\/li>\n<li>Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.\u00a0 Beat in the eggs one at at time.\u00a0 Stir in the almond extract.\u00a0 Fold in the flour mixture and milk, making sure the cherries are well dispersed.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf tin.\u00a0 Smooth the top.\u00a0 Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 60 minutes. Check at about 45 minutes and if you think it is getting too dark, cover loosely with a double sheet of aluminium foil.\u00a0 It is done when a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. (Today mine took about 15 minutes extra.) Leave cake in the tin to cool completely.<\/li>\n<li>Tip out onto a wire rack.
