Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F (175\u00b0C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.<br \/>\n2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.<br \/>\n3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.<br \/>\n4. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until smooth.<br \/>\n5. Divide batter between pans and bake for 22\u201325 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.<br \/>\n6. Beat heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.<br \/>\n7. Slice each cake in half horizontally to make 4 layers total.<br \/>\n8. Layer cake: sponge, whipped cream, sliced strawberries and a spoonful of jam. Repeat until topped with final sponge layer.<br \/>\n9.
