The Graham Cracker Crust

First up: that classic graham cracker crust. This is a tried-and-true base that’s buttery, a little sweet, and gives the whole dessert some structure and crunch. You only need three ingredients—graham crackers, sugar, and melted butter. Run the crackers through a food processor, stir in the sugar and butter, and press it all down into the bottom of an 8×8 dish. No baking needed here. Just make sure you press it down firmly so it holds up when you slice into it later.

The Creamy Layer

Next is the heart of the dessert—a smooth, creamy cheesecake-like layer made with cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and whipped topping. It’s sweet but not overly so, and the texture is light and fluffy. You’ll want your cream cheese at room temperature to avoid lumps (no one wants a surprise chunk of cream cheese in their dessert). Once it’s blended with the sugar and vanilla, fold in the whipped topping until it’s all smooth and uniform.

Spread this layer over the crust—nice and even. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but the more level it is, the better it’ll hold up under the strawberry layer.

That Strawberry Topping

Here’s where things get fun. Instead of fresh strawberries or a homemade compote, we’re using canned strawberry pie filling. It might not be fancy, but it brings a sweet, glossy, and unmistakably strawberry flavor that works perfectly here. Plus, no prep required—just pop open the can and spread it gently over the cream layer. Try not to press too hard when spreading it out so you don’t mix it into the layer below.

Ingredients

Here is a list of what you will need for this strawberry dessert. The full list is featured below at the bottom of the post.

Graham Crackers – You will finely crush up your crackers to make them the base of your crust!

Butter – Real butter is needed for this dessert. Margarine is oily and you will find it makes the crust greasy.

Sugar – Granulated sugar is used to help sweeten up the crust. Then you will reach for powdered sugar for the filling portion of the batter.

Cream Cheese – Make sure to reach for softened cream cheese. If it is not soft it will not blend properly and create a lumpy texture.

Vanilla –  A splash of vanilla extract is always the perfect pairing as it helps enhance all the flavors of the cheesecake filling.

Whipped Cream – Cool Whip is perfect for helping create that ultra-fluffy texture to the filling.

Pie Filling – For the topping, I used a strawberry pie filling. Now you can change out the flavor if you would like.

Chill and Serve

After it’s all layered, cover the dish and pop it in the fridge for at least two hours. This step is key. It helps everything firm up, and the flavors start to meld together a bit. You’ll get those clean layers when you slice into it, and the texture will be spot-on.

When it’s ready, just slice and serve. No need to get fancy—though a dollop of extra whipped cream or a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs on top doesn’t hurt if you’re feeling it.

Variations To Strawberry Delight Recipe

Pie Filling – You can use any flavor of pie filling you would like. Blueberry, cherry, lemon curd, peach, etc. Go the extra steps if you want and even make your pie filling.

Fresh Fruit – Or opt for a fresh fruit topping instead of a pie filling. Just slice up some fresh strawberries or other fruit and layer on top of the whipped cream topping.
