Ingredients:
* 2 cups whole milk
* ¾ cup granulated sugar
* ¼ cup all-purpose flour
* ¼ tsp salt
* 3 egg yolks, beaten
* 2 tbsp unsalted butter
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 4–5 ripe bananas, sliced
* 1 box vanilla wafers (or shortbread cookies)
* Whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together sugar, flour, and salt. Slowly stir in the milk.
2. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens—about 8–10 minutes.
3. Temper the egg yolks by whisking in a few spoonfuls of the hot mixture, then slowly add yolks back into the saucepan, stirring continuously.
4. Cook for another 2 minutes until smooth and thickened. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
5. In a glass or trifle dish, layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and warm pudding. Repeat the layers.
6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let flavors combine.
7. Top with whipped cream and extra banana slices just before serving.
