Creamy vanilla ice cream loaded with chocolate chunks and rich fudge swirls—better than store-bought!
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: 6 hours (including freezing)
Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients:
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chunks (or chopped chocolate)
1/2 cup mini peanut butter cups (optional, for classic Moose Tracks vibe)
3/4 cup hot fudge sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions:
1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, sugar, and salt. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Do not boil.
2. Remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool completely.
3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours until thoroughly chilled.
4. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
5. During the last few minutes of churning, add the chocolate chunks and peanut butter cups.
6. Transfer half of the churned ice cream into a freezer-safe container. Drizzle some hot fudge over the top.
7. Add the remaining ice cream and swirl in more fudge using a knife for that signature Moose Tracks ripple.
8. Freeze for at least 3–4 hours, or until firm. Scoop and enjoy!
Pro Tip:
Warm the fudge slightly before swirling it in—it creates those perfect gooey ribbons instead of hard chunks!
